CCAT Scientific representing Haier Biomedical
Policy on climate change
And a donation to the Green party with every freezer sold.
The most important issue facing us all today is without any doubt, climate change. Recent dramatic weather events on every continent have highlighted this dramatically. Frankly it is scary. Now the IPCC report has put us on notice.
As the owner operator of CCAT Scientific and official representative of Haier Biomedical in Aotearoa NZ, I have decided to implement appropriate policies to lead the way so others may follow. Someone has to start!
One significant way I can reduce my carbon emissions is by reducing my travel, and when I do travel, making it as efficient and productive as possible . This is not so difficult. I have always been a strong supporter of the Green Party of Aotearoa because of their environment policies. Never mind what you think of their other policies, this is too important to squabble. CCAT Scientific will give $50 to the Green Party of NZ for each freezer we sell, beginning 1 Jan 2022. If I publish how much I have donated that would tell others how many freezers I have sold. But if you buy a freezer, you can ask for a receipt.
It is not strictly necessary for me to attend to the installation of each and every fridge and freezer. I have prepared standard procedures which I already follow. These can be understood and followed by a competent sparky, electronics technician or your own staff, thus saving travel.
When it is appropriate I will utilise a local contractor and follow their progress accordingly.
As well as their thorough manuals, Haier Biomedical have produced short videos demonstrating all procedures such as cleaning, changing the door seal and adjusting the settings.
Climate change is affecting us all and it will get worse before it gets better. As one who has worked in science all my life, I think I have a firm understanding of climate science. I do not listen to the politicians, I listen to the scientists.
I
trust that you will understand if this policy has an effect
on our business.
If you feel strongly about this issue, I encourage to start acting in small ways. Join an appropriate political part or group. Greenpeace, NZ green party or even https://extinctionrebellion.nz/
Slow
down. Catch a bus or a train. Here's an interesting
statistic in case you are in a hurry to get that item and
considering airfreight: A Defra study concludes that 2
tonnes of freight carried for 5,000km
by a small container ship creates 150kg of CO2e (a
measure of relative global warming potential) compared to
6,605kg of CO2e if the freight is carried by plane for the
same distance. A clear difference. forty three times worse!
YIKES.
